The Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) announces the appointment of Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob as the new Chairman of its Board of Trustees with immediate effect. He replaces Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Kamal Salih who, after two years since returning to MIER to become its Chairman in April 2019, had decided to step down in order to take up the Executive Chairman post in privately-held Ankar Corporation, and simultaneously, Chair of Yayasan Mahkota effective 1 April 2021.
Tan Sri Sulaiman himself is no stranger to MIER as he had served as the second Executive Director of MIER succeeding Tan Sri Kamal in 1994. Tan Sri Sulaiman had also served as the Chairman of MIER from 2012 to April 2019 and had remained a member of the Board since then.
The Board would like to acknowledge with gratitude the dedication and contribution of Tan Sri Kamal as MIER's Chairman, and previously as founding Executive Director, and welcome the appointment of Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob.
